A report came out from the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University:
HOUSING AMERICA’S OLDER ADULTS
One interesting idea in the report is that of “Aging in Place”. Because the number of seniors is increasing so dramatically there will not be enough assisted living facilities available. Instead the CDC is promoting “Aging in Place” where a senior would live in their own home and community. Of course seniors who remain in their homes will need different levels of assistance.
The gist of the report is that it is going to be a tremendous challenge to meet the housing needs of the baby boomer generation as they age. It is also a tremendous opportunity for the private and public sectors to step up and provide these essential services.
