The following article on MedPage Today by Salyn Boyles has good news for Seniors.  Even if a person is frail and elderly light housework and moving around the house can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Inactive Seniors Can See Heart Gains With Light Exercise
Just moving around the house may still reduce cardiovascular risk in elderly people with limited mobility.

Thomas W. Buford, PhD, of the University of Florida Institute on Aging in Gainesville found that 30 minutes of sedentary behavior each day  increases the risk of heart disease by 1% for sedentary adults who have limited mobility.

The good news is that any amount of moderate physical activity is beneficial. Walking and light housework are good for your health.

The bottom line for seniors is this: Keep moving. Walk. Do light housework and light physical activity but keep moving and there is a good chance that it will make your heart stronger and healthier.
