There is some possible good news for those of us who like eggs, shrimp and lobster (all foods with high amounts of cholesterol). A panel of nutrition experts believes that cholesterol in the diet does not lead to increased cholesterol in the blood or increased risk of heart disease. Rather saturated fats and salt from foods such as fatty meats, whole milk and butter are more potentially harmful.

The U.S. government is poised to withdraw longstanding warnings about cholesterol
As we all know, scientific knowledge is tentative and another panel in years to come could find new information and come to different conclusions. Therefore I take the new cholesterol recommendations with a grain of salt 🙂
I plan to eat foods like eggs, shrimp and lobster in moderation with a little less worry. It is still important to try to reduce the amounts of saturated fats and salt in the diet.
