An article entitled “Florida’s ‘Gray Belt’: A Glimpse at America’s Aging Future” discusses areas in Florida that it calls the “gray belt”. These areas are made up of mainly seniors and this has an effect on the local economy and politics. Because of this it is important to let different areas of states devise plans to meet the needs of their residents. It is going to be interesting when this happens nationally. Local governments would do well to start preparing well for these major demographic shifts.
