A research study done at Yale University found that young people posted negative comments about seniors on Facebook.
Unfortunately the computer-mediated communication that occurs on twitter, Facebook and other media allows people to post comments without consequences. I doubt if many of the people who post negative things online would say the same things to a person’s face.
My advice to seniors is this. Block people who make negative comments. If you don’t know how to do this ask for help. Try to ignore them but If the negative comments really bother you then consider spending less time on social networks like Facebook. In most cases it is best not to respond online to negative comments, just ignore them and take the high road.
There are so many other valuable things you can do with your life. As mentioned in the article above many seniors make valuable contributions their entire lives.
