The Big Book of Everything is a Big Help

I posted about this a while back but I wanted to remind everyone of how useful this is. Erik A. Dewey came up with a simple idea that can make your life much easier. He calls it

The Big Book of Everything MK II

The idea is this. He has prepared an Excel spreadsheet with places for all the important information in your life. All you have to do is download the spreadsheet and then start entering information.

Of course you should not put the spreadsheet online. Just keep copies offline on your computer and save a backup copy on an external drive.

I used to have so much trouble remembering account numbers, web addresses, usernames, passwords. Now I enter them in my spreadsheet and I can always find them easily when I need them.

The great thing is that it is so easy to do. Whenever you get a piece of information, say your car insurance, or mortgage statement, just enter the account numbers and important information in the Big Book of Everything.

I know that the original purpose of the Big Book of Everything was to collect all the information to make it easier for your friends and relatives after you are gone. That is a laudable reason to build your Big Book of Everything. I find that it has improved the quality of my life now. I don’t have to worry about forgetting important information or getting locked out of an account. I know it’s all there in my Big Book of Everything.

Here is the link to the Excel spreadsheet Big Book of Everything (It works with Excel 2007)

If you do not have Microsoft Office and Excel you can download and use these free open source alternatives:
