Of course we want to make those years after 65  the best we can. Everyone would love to stay healthy, active and to enjoy life to the fullest.

They have listed five tips that can help:

1. Keep healthy. This consists of three main tasks. Make sure you have a good primary care physician. Make sure you keep track of your medicines. Have a list of all your medications including. Keep up to date with your health insurance. A few months before you turn 65 you must sign up for Medicare. Start learning now about your options. Every year afterwards you need to review your choices and options during the open enrollment period.

2. Exercise regularly. Be active. Walk every day. Keep your muscles strong and eat a healthy, balanced diet.

3. Keep your mind active. -Do not just sit in front of the television. Learn new skills, acquire new hobbies, socialize, enjoy the natural world, garden, visit museums, cultural events, read great literature, listen to music, dance.

4. Be independent. Figure out how you manage on your own if you want to “age in place” and live at home.  If necessary modify your house to make it safer and easier for you to live in.

5. Move to an easier home if necessary

The most important thing to realize is that you should start learning, exploring and planning before you are 65. If you prepare well it can make a tremendous difference in the quality of your aging experience.
