The most important criteria for me are the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cost &#8211; it should not be too expensive<\/li>\n<li>Usability &#8211; it should be easy to use.<\/li>\n<li>Reliability and network coverage &#8211; I depend on my phone. If there is an emergency it needs to work and have a good strong signal.<\/li>\n<li>Durability &#8211; It needs to be study enough to withstand being dropped<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;m sure you might have your own additional features that you want in a smart phone and that&#8217;s fine.<\/p>\n<p>You also need to think about how you want to use the smart phone.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are you only going to use it for local or long distance phone calls?<\/li>\n<li>Will you be texting your friends or relatives?<\/li>\n<li>Do you want to use your phone to send email and surf the web?<\/li>\n<li>Do you want a physical keyboard?<\/li>\n<li>Are you going to use the camera on your phone a lot? Do you want to share photos from your phone with others?<\/li>\n<li>Do you want to use Twitter and Facebook with your phone?<\/li>\n<li>Do you want to use your phone for videoconferencing using things such as Google Hangouts or Skype?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fortunately, most of the newer smart phones will do all the things I mentioned above.
